Ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
Absence of certain gut bacteria such as Roseburia hominis and Faecalibacterium prausnitzii has been observed in people with Ulcerative colitis and chronic inflammatory bowel disease. These bacteria produce butyrate - short fatty acids - the primary energy source for gut cells. Therefore, abscence of these bacteria is harmful for the gut.
Butyrate production in the gut increases when we eat prebiotics, fibre, whole grain and resistant starch.
Natural treatments: Prebiotic foods that are rich in dietary fibers and resistant starch for example hole grain wheat, and whole grain corn, unripe bananas, Barley, Psyllium husk, pinto beans, cooked cooled potatoes, Teff flour. Firmicutes bacteria, Faecalibacterium, Roseburia, Eubacterium, Andrographis Paniculata, Curcumin, Colostrum, Boswellia serrata.

Short-chain fatty acids, butyrate and resistant starch against Ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
"Butyric acid is a short chain fatty acid, also called butyrate. It is produced in the large intestine when lactic acid bacteria break down fibers by fermentation. One of the important tasks of the butyric acid is to act as energy for colon cells. They do not use glucose as fuel as the body's other cells, but are completely dependent on the production of butyric acid by the good intestinal bacteria. Butyric acid also has anti-inflammatory effect. It blocks a protein that causes inflammation, something that is very interesting for the researchers because chronic inflammation of the intestine can lead to cancer. High levels of butyric acid have also been linked to lower risk of inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease."

Butyrate - a short-chain fatty acid that is essential for colon cells
"Butyrate is an essential metabolite in the human colon, as it is the preferred energy source for the colon epithelial cells, contributes to the maintenance of the gut barrier functions, and has immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties.
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov

Patients suffering from ulcerative colitis lack two butyrate producing bacterias: Roseburia hominis and Faecalibacterium prausnitzii.
"Machiels et al. recently described that the composition of the faecal microbiota of patients suffering from ulcerative colitis differs from that of healthy individuals: they found a reduction in two well-known butyrate-producing bacteria of the Firmicutes phylum, Roseburia hominis and Faecalibacterium prausnitzii. This has been confirmed in other studies."
"As these bacteria are butyrate producers, the “old idea” of trying to improve butyrate production during IBD by various means is still very rational."

(frontiersin.org) "One of the benefits of short chain fatty acids is that they can help improve the structural integrity of the colon. Most patients with ulcerative colitis have a “leaky gut,” which means the intestinal wall is highly permeable to bacteria and other toxins. When these substances enter the bloodstream, they can wreak havoc throughout the body. However, studies suggest that short chain fatty acids can encourage the proliferation of colonocytes, which can help build a stronger intestinal barrier with a lower level of permeability. The short chain fatty acid with the most significant role in this process is butyric acid, since it is the major energy substrate for epithelial cells. Butyric acid also plays a role in the development of the mucosal barrier in the colon, which is also involved in leaky gut. In patients with ulcerative colitis, the thickness of the mucosal barrier is reduced, and its composition (which includes a wide range of proteins, carbohydrates, lipids and antimicrobial compounds) is different from that of healthy patients. In experimental models of ulcerative colitis, butyric acid can promote mucus production and help restore the optimal level of mucosal permeability."

short-chain fatty acids, butyrate and resistant starch fights inflammation in the large intestine intact
When we eat foods high in resistant starch the gut bacteria in the large intestine starts to produce short-chain fatty acids or butyrate and this inhibits inflammation and heals the large intestine.
What to do? Eat prebiotics and resistant starch! It has many other health benefits also, weight loss for example.

"Butyrate is produced by microbial fermentation in the large intestine of humans and animals. It serves as not only a primary nutrient that provides energy to colonocytes, but also a cellular mediator regulating multiple functions of gut cells and beyond, including gene expression, cell differentiation, gut tissue development, immune modulation, oxidative stress reduction, and diarrhea control."

SCFAs - short for: short-chain fatty acids, including butyrate
"providing evidence that SCFAs more likely play an important role in the pathogenesis of IBD."

Conclusions:
"The described effects are primarily associated with increased luminal production of SCFA after administering dietary fibre. SCFA have immunomodulatory properties, they accelerate healing and regeneration processes of the intestinal epithelium, and they lower colonic pH thereby stimulating growth of the beneficial microflora and inhibiting growth of the pathogens."

When resistant starch reaches the large intestine tract butyrate is produced by microbial fermentation.
"The best way to get buyrate is to have plenty of buyrate producing bacteria in the colon. The best way to nourish these bacteria is to have fiber and resistant starch present in the colon."

Low levels of Secretory IgA (SIgA) antibodies causes intestinal dysfuncion
Secretory IgA (SIgA) is the first antibody that the body produces in the intestinal mucosa when toxins enters the body. IgA (SIgA) deficiency causes problems in stomach and in the immune system, the surface of the the intestines can become inflamed. Symptoms can be food sensitivities, leaky gut, intestinal inflammation, IBS etc. Low levels of Secretory are very common and can have multiple causes such as: side effects of medications, chronic infections, unhealthy eating habits, mental/emotional stress lack of sleep.

Candida yeast infection and leaky gut cause for Ulcerative Colitis
Candida yeast infection and leaky gut is a disease created by bacterial imbalance in the gut. This is a very common health problem today, yet many are unaware of it. Sadly official health care are not so interested in Candida infection, due to corruption I would say.
